The Guild - St. Joseph of the Pines
For over fifty years The Guild at St. Joseph of the Pines has worked towards their goal to do all they can to improve the quality of life for the patients who live in St. Joseph’s Health Center. Fundraisers and community projects generate money to supplement equipment purchases, develop the gardens surrounding the buildings, provide clocks and crucifixes, or expand the healthcare services available to seniors. The first transportation van at St. Joseph of the Pines was purchased by The Guild as a means to transport residents to medical treatment not available within the Health Center.
The Guild goes beyond the purchase of “things” to benefit the patients. It is not unusual in the Health Center to see Santa, the Easter Bunny or a chorus of singers. Christmas decorations, holiday gifts and special parties are provided by members of The Guild. A nursing education grant is available for staff of St. Joseph of the Pines. In fact, the nursing program at Sandhills Community College was started with funds provided by The Guild.
