Located in Moore County in what is known as the Sandhills region of North Carolina are historic Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen.

Southern Pines is recognized nationally as a center for equestrian activities and home to an almost 4,000-acre environmental preserve with endless riding trails – the Walthour-Moss Foundation.

The nearby village of Cameron is known for antiques with more than ten antique stores on the main street. Just northwest of Southern Pines is an area recognized nationally for pottery artisans and their handcrafted wares.

Conveniently located 70 miles south of Raleigh and just 35 miles from Ft. Bragg, the area was originally established as the halfway point on the New York–Florida rail route. Today, daily rail service to both New York and Florida is joined by convenient access to Interstates 95, 85, 73-74 and 40. Ocean beaches to the east and mountains to the west are just a few hours drive. The airports of Raleigh, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Charlotte are all within proximity.
